The Maple Leafs Champions Jug Band
Posted in: Musicians by jparsons on June 9, 2011
Like the original jug band of the Twenties and Thirties, The Maple Leaf Champions are a dynamic shifting cast of musical colleagues anchored by Ted Staunton and Jim Yates. They play old-time sounding string band, blues and “hokum” music with infectious good humour – not to mention guitars, banjos, washboard, kazoo, tuba, trombone, fiddle, ukulele, mandolin, harmonica and, of course, jug.
Varying in form from trio to sextet, depending on the venue, big band or small, the Champions come to play, in every sense of the word.
Jug band music – the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
